“Wait… Is That Her?!” Coronation Street Fans Shocked to Spot Iconic Character in Rival Soap
Coronation Street star Christine Mackie made a surprise appearance in Hollyoaks last week – did you spot her? Best known for playing Dr Susan Gaddas in Corrie, a role which she’s held since 2014, the TV star headed over to Chester, where she portrayed a judge at Tony Hutchinson’s dramatic plea hearing, which saw Jez exposed as the real killer.
Rest assured, Mackie hasn’t left Weatherfield for good, but she’s clearly busier than ever, after securing her latest role in Hollyoaks.
Following last week’s episode, fans reacted to the surprise on social media. “Obsessed with Dr Gaddas becoming a judge in Chester now her services are no longer required in Corrie because everyone goes straight to hospital…her hardworking ways,” quipped one.
“Knew it was her! Thanks for the confirmation, and I’m sure the woman who came out to get them in the room was from Doctors & Corrie as well at one point,” noted a second.
Mackie, who continues to appear sporadically in Coronation Street, was recently involved in Abi Webster’s PTSD storyline, which aired during January and February of this year.
After witnessing the death of Mason Radcliffe, Abi had visited Dr Gaddas and revealed that she’d been having terrifying visions of Mason’s last moments, as well as hallucinations of her late son, Seb Franklin, who was brutally killed in 2021.

In the months that followed, Abi’s mental health gradually improved, with Dr Gaddas making a few appearances since. It’s unknown when the GP will next return.
While she has an intermittent role, Mackie is often recognised by Corrie fans, owing to her 11-year tenure.
Speaking on the Conversation Street podcast last year, Mackie said: “I do know from my experience over the 10 years that people love Gaddas, and I’m deeply grateful that they do.
